8 Steps to Build Brand on Instagram

1. Research & Strategy

Every brand requires a plan or strategy and lot of research to understand how they will market themselves. I have also done that before starting my IG profile as a brand. I have not achieved big followers but i have invested my time in understanding how to do this.

There are factors which you need to follow while Research and Strategy planning :

  • Goal

Starting with goal. Everyone starts building brand to have some target in mind and these target should not very big but you have one. Why building brand on Instagram? is the main question. 

You are spending your time and money on building brand. You should have some targets in your mind like having number of followers, likes, visitors on your website, get clients or may be setting business on Instagram. 

  • Target Audience

Every brand have some specific market same as you. You brand is also not for everyone. You should define your segment of market. Like i am producing content for Entrepreneur's, Digital Marketers, Businesses, etc. 

You can choose your niche and produce content accordingly. There are lot of brands on Instagram you can check their content for reference and understand what type of content you can produce.

  • Competitor

You always learn from competitors. Check their IG profiles and learn from their content how they attract new followers. 

I always do this once a week and learn new tricks what they are using and sometimes i pick their content and convert that into mine. You can say it copy but it is a trick.

  • Content Strategy

This depends on you how you want to represent your brand on Instagram.

Content can be visual or text. You have to put content that will engage which they can like share comment and save for future. Content should be valuable which they don't to lost so they can save at least.

For Content you have to read more like i do reading more than 100s of blogs, articles in a month. Which boost my brain to write something great and useful.

2. Content Theme

As we all know that Instagram is all about photos or visuals. If your content is great in visuals then can easily engaging. 

You have seen lot of brands on Instagram which post daily with low quality images and content. But they don't get good engagement results.

So, You have to think about your content very seriously before posting it on Instagram. Color combination, pattern, size of text written on post and font. This all matters for your perfect post. Do this consistently same so that your brand can easily recognized.

Once theme is decided, for Content You can use Canva. As i use for my posts on Instagram. They have predefined templates which make your work easy.

3. Use Strong Hashtags

After visual, second most important thing is hashtags. Most of the brands on Instagram are visible through hashtags. This is the way you can appear in their explore page. I think you don't have to miss that chance.

I use hashtags for my Instagram post daily whenever i post. 

According to stats, you have to post at least 15 hashtags and not more than 30. Use hashtags properly and related to content you post. Keep in mind don't use anything or everything in hashtags. 

4. Instagram Stories and Instagram Live

This feature is on mobile version of Instagram. 

Instagram Stories remain visible for only 24 hours. If you want to save it or if your followers wan to view stories later, then you can create highlights section. Not only this, your Instagram stories allow you to be more creative with your visuals. You can also add stickers, write on pictures, draw, conduct polls, ask question, use gifs and other options to make your followers engaged. 

Instagram Live stream also visible for only 24 hours but cannot be saved. Live stream helps gain authority and loyalty of your followers. They will understand with live stream that brand behind the camera is equally invested with their customer and will not betray with their fake products or services. Use this feature regularly.

5. Collaboration

After above all steps you can look for collaborations. You can collaborate to get new followers and brand authority for your brand.

Collaborate with genuine and passionate influencer which are similar to your brand because that will help in engaging your followers more. It also helps in exchanging followers with you and influencer with whom you are collaborating. Choose your collaborating partner wisely.

6. Create your Community

Creating your community on Instagram is very important for every small or big brand. It requires lot of time and dedication. You have to take time to connect with your audience via comment or direct messages. 

You can also engage with other Instagram brands via comment. Try to write impressive comments to others so that new audience can discover you from them. This tactic will help your audience to grow faster.

Once your audience community is build, then it is easy to spread your message to your targets.


7. Be Consistent

This is very important point which you have to remember everyday and every time. Consistency is important factor to grow your audience. The timing of post can affect your engagement rate, so once you know what frequency, days of the week and times of day work best for your audience. You post should be scheduled at that time. Your content, theme and hashtags should also be consistent. 

8. Track your Progress

Keep tracking your progress weekly so that you can understand which content works, which timing works, which post gained more likes, comment, what type of users you are getting.
